Fort Myers, FL – A Fort Myers woman was arrested Saturday after deputies say she interfered with a youth football game and allegedly assaulted a juvenile player at Brooks Park.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies assigned to the park were alerted to an altercation on the field during a Pop Warner game. Authorities said the situation escalated after a play when two teams became involved in a physical confrontation.

Video reviewed by deputies shows a woman, identified as Renee Lambert, allegedly running onto the field and kicking a juvenile player during the incident. Deputies responded and detained Lambert shortly after the altercation.

According to investigators, Lambert claimed that a child had struck her with a helmet, prompting her to fight back. However, deputies said that claim was later disproven through video evidence and witness statements.

Lambert was arrested and charged with cruelty toward a child without great bodily harm and resisting an officer, according to the sheriff’s office. No serious injuries to the juvenile player were reported.

The incident has raised concerns among parents and league organizers about safety and sideline conduct during youth sporting events. Officials have not announced whether additional security measures will be implemented at future games.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not released further details about potential court proceedings.
