Gainesville, FL – A late-night dispute in Alachua County escalated into gunfire Saturday, leading to the arrest of a 17-year-old suspect and an ongoing investigation into a second individual.

According to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded just before 10 p.m. Saturday to reports of shots fired in the 12800 block of SW Archer Road in Gainesville, located in Alachua County near the southwest Gainesville area. Authorities said two victims reported a verbal altercation with individuals they knew outside a gas station in the 12200 block of SW Archer Road.

Investigators say the victims left the scene, but the suspects allegedly followed them to a nearby residential driveway. At that location, one suspect reportedly made a derogatory statement before another suspect allegedly fired a weapon. No injuries were reported, and the suspect vehicle fled immediately after the gunfire.

Over the next 24 hours, deputies and detectives worked to identify those involved. Authorities said 17-year-old Ryan Williams was identified as the alleged shooter and taken into custody without incident. According to officials, additional evidence tied to the shooting was recovered at the time of his arrest.

Williams has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm from a vehicle within 1,000 feet of another person. Investigators have also identified a second individual believed to have been in the suspect vehicle, with charges still pending.

The investigation remains active as authorities continue to gather evidence and determine any additional charges.
