Minneapolis, Minnesota – Drivers across Minnesota could face water-covered roads and strong crosswinds during the April 1–7 period as multiple storm systems bring repeated rainfall, increasing the risk of travel disruptions on I-94, I-35, and U.S. Highway 52.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, Minnesota is within a high-confidence precipitation zone, with up to an 80% probability of above-normal rainfall across the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes. A slight risk of high winds also extends into the state, especially across southern and western Minnesota.

Rainfall totals may exceed 2 inches, particularly in cities like Minneapolis, St. Paul, Rochester, and Mankato. Low-lying areas and poor drainage zones could see localized flooding, while rivers and streams may rise quickly after repeated rounds of rain. The Minnesota Department of Transportation may issue alerts if standing water impacts highways or ramps.

Wind gusts between 40 and 45 mph are possible at times, especially across open prairie regions in southern and western parts of the state. These winds could make travel difficult for high-profile vehicles along I-90 and I-94.

Temperatures are expected to run above normal, keeping precipitation primarily rain and supporting an active storm track across the region.

This unsettled pattern will persist through April 1–7, with additional advisories or localized warnings possible as conditions evolve.
