Pueblo, Colorado – Explosive fire conditions are unfolding across southern Colorado today as near-record heat combines with strong winds and extremely dry air, creating a high-risk environment for rapid fire spread.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, a Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 7 p.m. today for areas including the San Luis Valley and Fremont County. Wind gusts could reach up to 45 mph, while relative humidity drops as low as 6 percent, allowing any spark to spread quickly.

High temperatures are expected to climb to around 89 degrees in Pueblo and the upper 80s across much of eastern Colorado, challenging daily records. Colorado Springs could reach the low to mid-80s, while Alamosa pushes near 80 degrees.

Critical fire weather conditions will persist into Thursday, when a Fire Weather Watch is in place ahead of a cold front المتوقع to arrive late afternoon into the evening. That front will bring cooler temperatures but could also shift winds, increasing fire behavior before conditions improve.

Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning, secure trailer chains, and properly dispose of cigarettes. Even small sparks could ignite fast-moving fires under these conditions.

Conditions begin to ease late Thursday night, but fire خطر remains elevated until cooler air fully settles in.
