Davenport, Iowa – Warm spring air will surge into the Quad Cities through Thursday before a round of evening storms threatens to disrupt travel and outdoor plans.
According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, temperatures will climb steadily into the upper 70s Wednesday and peak between 68°F and 86°F Thursday across eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois. Cities including Davenport, Moline, Rock Island, and Bettendorf will see the warmest conditions ahead of an approaching cold front.
Storm chances increase Thursday afternoon, with a 30 to 50 percent chance of development before sunset. The threat becomes more widespread Thursday night, rising to 30 to 60 percent, especially south of Interstate 80. Some storms could become strong, producing gusty winds and heavy downpours.
Drivers along I-74, I-80, and US-61 should be prepared for sudden visibility drops and wet roads during the evening commute. Cooler air will move in quickly behind the front, with Friday highs falling into the 40s and low 50s.
Residents should stay alert for weather updates Thursday evening and secure outdoor items ahead of potential storms. Conditions will calm by Friday, but the sharp temperature drop will be noticeable across the region.
