Raleigh, North Carolina – Temperatures are running well below normal across central North Carolina today, bringing a noticeably cooler feel that will persist through midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Raleigh, highs today will range from the mid-50s to upper 50s across the Triangle, including Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, which is about 8 to 12 degrees below average for late March. Despite the cooler air, skies will remain mostly clear, allowing for smooth travel conditions along I-40, I-440, and US-1.
The bigger impact comes overnight, as temperatures drop into the mid-30s across much of the region, with some rural areas dipping closer to freezing. Cities including Sanford, Rocky Mount, and Fayetteville could see patchy frost develop by early Wednesday morning.
Dry weather will continue through Wednesday, with a gradual warming trend expected later in the week. No precipitation is expected in the short term, keeping conditions quiet but cool.
Residents should prepare for chilly mornings, protect sensitive plants from potential frost, and stay alert for updates as temperatures begin to moderate heading into late week.
