Louisville, Kentucky – Rain and thunderstorms will return in two distinct waves starting late Wednesday night, with a stronger round likely to impact travel by Thursday night into Friday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, dry and mild conditions will hold through Wednesday, with highs climbing into the upper 60s and low 70s. The first round of showers and storms arrives after midnight Wednesday night into early Thursday morning, mainly affecting southern Indiana and north-central Kentucky, including Louisville.
A second, more widespread round of rain and thunderstorms develops late Thursday night as a cold front moves through the region. Cities along I-64 and I-65, including Elizabethtown, Frankfort, and Jeffersonville, could see steady rain and embedded storms continuing into early Friday, increasing the risk of wet roads and reduced visibility during the morning commute.
Temperatures will peak near 79°F to 85°F Thursday before dropping into the 50s north of the parkways and 60s farther south by Friday. While severe weather is not guaranteed, some storms could produce gusty winds and brief heavy rainfall.
Residents should prepare for changing conditions starting late Wednesday night, allow extra travel time Thursday night into Friday, and stay alert for updates as the system moves through.
