New Lenox, Illinois – Residents in parts of New Lenox may notice an increased police presence Thursday morning and into the afternoon, but officials say there is no cause for concern.
According to the New Lenox Police Department, the activity is part of a scheduled training exercise beginning around 8:00 a.m. and continuing through the early afternoon. The exercise is taking place in the area of Laraway Road and Schoolhouse Road.
Police said surrounding areas may also see activity, including near Parkview Christian Church to the south and the Jewel-Osco parking lot to the north. The training may involve multiple officers, vehicles, and simulated emergency scenarios.
Officials emphasized that the exercise is designed to help officers prepare for real-life situations and improve response readiness. While the presence of law enforcement may appear significant, authorities stress there is no active threat to the public.
Residents are not required to take any action, and normal daily activities can continue as usual. However, drivers in the area may experience minor delays due to the increased activity and should remain aware of their surroundings.
Police thanked the community for its understanding and cooperation during the training. Anyone with questions or concerns is encouraged to contact the New Lenox Police Department directly.
