La Plata, MD – A La Plata man is facing multiple murder charges after a deadly shooting that unfolded during an argument late Sunday night near Radio Station Road.

According to the Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office, the incident happened around 10:25 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of La Plata Road and Radio Station Road. Investigators said the suspect, identified as Javon James Webber, 27, of La Plata, allegedly shot and killed the front seat passenger during a dispute inside a vehicle.

Authorities allege the victim, identified as 27-year-old Bradnick Michael Wells of Waldorf, was struck in the back of the head while inside the car. Officials said Webber allegedly exited the vehicle near Radio Station Road and Llano Drive and instructed the remaining passengers to remove the victim. When they refused, investigators say Webber allegedly reentered the vehicle and fled the scene with Wells still inside.

The Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office reported that patrol officers and detectives canvassed the area for several hours before a resident discovered the victimโ€™s body in a yard in the 10000 block of Newport Church Road in Charlotte Hall around midnight. Wells was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives said they later located Webberโ€™s vehicle in Charlottesville, Virginia. Webber was found nearby seeking treatment for a medical issue and was taken into custody. He has been charged as a fugitive from justice and is awaiting extradition to Charles County, where he will face first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and related charges.

Officials noted all individuals involved were known to each other. The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact authorities or submit tips anonymously.
