Albuquerque, New Mexico – Slick roads and reduced visibility could disrupt travel across the Southwest by Wednesday morning as repeated rounds of rain begin impacting Arizona and New Mexico during peak commute hours.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, the Southwest is in a high-confidence zone for above-average precipitation from Wednesday through Saturday, with totals expected to run 30 to 60 percent higher than normal. Temperatures are also trending above seasonal levels, bringing a warm and unsettled pattern across the region.

Phoenix, Albuquerque, and Tucson are expected to see multiple waves of rainfall, increasing the risk of standing water on major corridors including I-10, I-17, I-25, and I-40. In central Arizona, including Mesa and Scottsdale, heavier bursts could reduce visibility below one mile at times and create hazardous driving conditions. In New Mexico, areas such as Santa Fe and Roswell may see water collect quickly in low-lying المناطق, while western cities like Farmington could experience steadier rain impacting travel.

Drivers should slow down on wet roads, avoid flooded washes, and allow extra time for travel. Residents are encouraged to clear drainage areas and monitor arroyos, which can fill rapidly during heavier rain.

This wet and warm pattern is expected to continue through Saturday night, with additional advisories likely as rainfall totals and timing become more defined.
