Boston, Massachusetts – A warming trend will take hold across New England by Wednesday morning, with above-normal temperatures building in quickly while rainfall remains limited compared to much of the country.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, Massachusetts sits on the eastern edge of a widespread system bringing heavy rain to much of the U.S., but precipitation locally is expected to stay near seasonal averages through Saturday. The bigger signal is temperature, with a strong probability of above-normal warmth spreading into the Northeast.

Boston, Worcester, and Springfield will see a milder pattern with occasional light rain or passing showers, but not the repeated heavy bands expected farther west. Major routes including I-90, I-95, and I-91 could still see brief slick conditions during isolated showers, especially during early morning or evening commutes. Coastal areas such as New Bedford and Fall River may deal with patchy fog and damp roads at times, while inland cities like Lowell and Cambridge stay mostly mild.

Drivers should remain alert for quick changes in visibility during light rain, but widespread flooding concerns remain low. Residents can expect a more typical early April setup with warmer air and only periodic rainfall.

This quieter pattern is expected to hold through Saturday, with additional updates possible if rainfall trends shift closer to the coast.
