Lafourche Parish, Louisiana – A Thibodaux man has been arrested months after a serious crash that left two juvenile pedestrians critically injured, according to Louisiana State Police.
According to Louisiana State Police Troop C, the crash happened January 29, 2026, just before 4:00 p.m. on Talbot Avenue near Meadows Circle in Lafourche Parish. Investigators said the incident involved multiple vehicles and resulted in severe injuries to two children who were standing off the roadway after exiting a school bus.
Troopers said a 2004 Chevrolet Impala was allegedly traveling northbound and entered the southbound lane in a marked no-passing zone while attempting to pass traffic. As the vehicle returned to the northbound lane, the driver allegedly lost control, struck the rear of another vehicle, then left the roadway and hit the two juveniles.
Both children were seriously injured and transported to out-of-area hospitals. Several vehicle occupants were also injured, including juveniles, authorities said.
Following an investigation and toxicology testing, officials said the driver, identified as 58-year-old Brian Lang of Thibodaux, allegedly had a blood alcohol content over the legal limit at the time of the crash.
An arrest warrant was obtained through the 17th Judicial District Court. On Monday, Lang was taken into custody and booked into the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. He faces multiple charges, including first-degree vehicular negligent injuring, driving while impaired (second offense), and reckless operation.
The crash remains under investigation.
