Davenport, Iowa – A fast-moving warmup is underway across eastern Iowa and western Illinois, with temperatures set to jump nearly 30 degrees by Thursday before rain and a sharp cooldown hit within hours.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, highs will rise from the upper 40s and low 50s today into the 60s Tuesday and mid-70s by Wednesday. By Thursday afternoon, temperatures are expected to peak between 68 and 82 degrees across the region, marking the warmest stretch of the week.
Cities along the I-74 corridor, including Davenport, Moline, and Rock Island, will see increasing cloud cover by Thursday afternoon as a cold front approaches. Rain chances rise to 20–40 percent Thursday evening into the overnight hours, which could impact commutes and evening travel.
Dry and mild conditions dominate through midweek, making for favorable outdoor plans, but residents should prepare for changing conditions late Thursday. Light rain and possible brief downpours may develop as the front moves through.
By Friday, cooler air returns quickly, dropping highs back into the mid-40s to near 50 degrees with clearing skies.
The temperature swing highlights a volatile spring pattern, and additional updates are likely as Thursday’s system approaches.
