Marquette, Michigan – Drivers across the Upper Peninsula could face slick spots as early as Tuesday morning as the first of several weak systems brings light mixed precipitation into the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, a series of clipper systems will move through Tuesday through Thursday, producing periods of light snow, rain, or a mix. While no significant accumulation is expected, temperatures hovering above freezing during the day and dropping below freezing at night will create a daily refreeze risk on untreated roads.

Highs will range from 36°F to 46°F Tuesday and climb into the upper 30s to near 50°F Wednesday, especially across western Upper Michigan. Overnight lows will dip into the 20s and low 30s, allowing moisture on roads like US-41 and M-28 to freeze overnight.

Communities including Marquette, Iron Mountain, and Houghton may see brief periods of light precipitation, with the greatest travel concerns tied to changing surface conditions rather than heavy snowfall.

By Thursday, another round of mixed precipitation is possible before cooler air settles in late week. Highs will fall back into the upper 20s to mid-30s by Friday as drier conditions return.
