Detroit, Michigan – Light snow showers and freezing overnight temperatures are creating slick travel conditions across Southeast Michigan this morning, with impacts expected through the early commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, scattered flurries and light snow will continue through the day, with a 25 to 35 percent chance of precipitation. Highs will only reach between 33°F and 40°F, while temperatures drop sharply to 18°F to 24°F overnight, allowing any untreated roads to refreeze.

Drivers along I-75, I-94, and I-96 should watch for icy patches on bridges and overpasses, especially during the morning and late-night hours. Visibility may briefly drop during passing snow showers, particularly north of Detroit toward Pontiac and Flint.

Conditions improve quickly Tuesday as sunshine returns and highs climb into the mid to upper 40s. A stronger warmup follows Wednesday, with temperatures reaching as high as 61°F across Metro Detroit.

By Thursday, a developing system will bring rain showers back to the region, with highs surging between 55°F and 70°F before cooler air returns Friday, dropping temperatures back into the 30s and low 40s.

Additional updates are expected if snow coverage becomes more widespread or if freezing conditions worsen overnight.
