Richmond, Indiana – Strong storms moving in from Ohio could bring damaging wind gusts and hail across southeast Indiana through midnight, with impacts increasing through the late evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, Severe Thunderstorm Watch 73 is in effect until 12 a.m. for counties along the Ohio border, including Wayne, Union, Franklin, Fayette, Dearborn, Ripley, Ohio, and Switzerland counties.

Cities such as Richmond, Connersville, Lawrenceburg, and Brookville are in the primary impact zone, where storms may produce wind gusts exceeding 60 mph. These winds could down tree limbs and cause isolated power outages. Brief hail is also possible in stronger storm cells.

Travel along I-70, U.S. 40, and State Road 1 may be affected by sudden heavy rain, reduced visibility, and debris on roadways. Conditions could deteriorate quickly as storms push east to west across the region.

Residents should remain weather-aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings overnight. The watch remains in effect until midnight, with additional warnings likely as storms intensify.
