Marquette, Michigan – Quiet weather will hold through Sunday, but conditions will shift quickly by mid-afternoon Monday as rain and thunderstorms move into Upper Michigan, potentially impacting travel and local infrastructure.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, dry conditions and mild temperatures will continue through the weekend, with inland highs reaching near 70 degrees Sunday while lakeshore areas remain cooler in the 50s. The next system arrives Monday, with showers developing after 3 p.m. and thunderstorms possible into the evening.

Communities including Marquette, Houghton, and Escanaba could see periods of moderate rain and isolated thunderstorms Monday evening. Roads such as US-41 and M-28 may become slick during heavier વરસાદ bursts, especially during the late-day commute. While severe weather is not currently expected, gusty winds and brief downpours could still cause minor travel slowdowns and isolated power flickers.

Residents should take advantage of the dry weekend to prepare, including checking outdoor drainage and securing loose items ahead of Monday’s rain. Drivers should plan for reduced visibility and longer stopping distances once precipitation begins.

Rain and storms may continue into Monday night before tapering early Tuesday. Additional updates are expected if storm strength or timing changes.
