Denver, Colorado – A sharp heat surge will push temperatures across Colorado into the upper 70s and low 80s by Saturday afternoon, while a 40 to 50 percent increase in rain chances introduces a more active storm pattern across the state.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, there is an 80 to 90 percent probability of above-normal temperatures statewide through early next week, paired with an above-normal precipitation signal across the central Rockies. This setup places Colorado in a zone where warming temperatures and storm development will overlap.

Denver is expected to reach the upper 70s to low 80s between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, with similar warmth extending along the I-25 corridor through Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, and Pueblo. The Western Slope, including Grand Junction, will also climb into the upper 70s to near 80 degrees.

By late afternoon into the evening, scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop, especially along the Front Range and eastern plains. Storms may produce brief heavy rain, lightning, and wind gusts over 40 mph, particularly along I-70 and I-25, which could impact travel.

Residents should stay hydrated during peak heat while remaining alert for rapidly changing weather later in the day. This combination of heat and increased storm activity will persist through early next week, with additional advisories likely.
