Tyler, Texas – A strong heat surge will push temperatures across East Texas into the upper 80s by Saturday afternoon, with a drier pattern limiting thunderstorms and allowing heat to build rapidly across the region.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, there is an 80 to 90 percent probability of above-normal temperatures across East Texas through early next week. The region remains firmly within the core of a widespread 35-state heat event, though storm coverage will be limited.

Tyler is expected to reach the upper 80s between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, with similar conditions extending along the I-20 corridor into Longview and Marshall. Lufkin and Nacogdoches will also climb into the upper 80s, with humidity beginning to increase during the afternoon hours.

Thunderstorm activity will remain isolated at best, with most areas staying dry under mostly sunny skies. This will allow temperatures to rise efficiently each afternoon, especially across inland counties and along major corridors like U.S. 69 and U.S. 259.

Residents should stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat, and prepare for prolonged sun exposure. This warm and mostly dry pattern is expected to persist through early next week, with additional advisories possible as conditions intensify.
