Baton Rouge, Louisiana – A strong heat surge will push temperatures across Louisiana into the upper 80s by Saturday afternoon, with a drier pattern limiting thunderstorms and allowing heat to build rapidly across the state.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, there is an 80 to 90 percent probability of above-normal temperatures statewide through early next week. Louisiana remains firmly within the core of a 35-state heat event, though widespread storm activity will be limited.

Baton Rouge is expected to reach the upper 80s between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, with similar conditions extending west along I-10 into Lafayette and Lake Charles and north toward Alexandria. New Orleans will see mid to upper 80s, with higher humidity levels making it feel warmer during peak afternoon hours.

Thunderstorm activity will remain isolated, with most areas staying dry under partly to mostly sunny skies. This will allow for consistent daytime heating, especially across inland parishes where temperatures climb fastest.

Residents should stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat, and prepare for prolonged sun exposure. This warm and mostly dry pattern is expected to persist through early next week, with additional advisories possible if conditions intensify.
