Louisville, Kentucky – A gradual but steady warmup will push temperatures across Kentucky and Virginia into the upper 70s to low 80s by Saturday afternoon, with increasing humidity and scattered storms developing late in the day.
According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, there is a 60 to 70 percent probability of above-normal temperatures across the Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic through early next week. Kentucky and much of Virginia sit on the eastern edge of the broader heat surge, leading to more moderate but still above-normal warmth.
Louisville is expected to reach near 80 degrees between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, with similar conditions extending east along I-64 into Lexington and toward Charleston, West Virginia. Richmond and central Virginia will climb into the upper 70s to near 80, while western مناطق of the state warm slightly faster under partly sunny skies.
By late afternoon into the evening, increasing moisture will trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms across both states. Storms may produce brief heavy rain, lightning, and wind gusts over 35 mph, especially along I-64, I-75, and I-81, potentially impacting travel.
Residents should plan outdoor activities earlier in the day, stay hydrated, and remain alert for changing weather during the evening hours. This pattern will persist through the weekend into early next week, with additional advisories possible as conditions evolve.
