Atlanta, Georgia – A sharp 15-degree temperature drop will disrupt Tuesday’s afternoon routines across metro Atlanta, bringing cooler air and light rain chances before a quick rebound later this week.

According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, a weak cold front moving through Tuesday into Wednesday will knock highs down to around 64°F Tuesday and 66°F Wednesday, a notable shift from near-80°F warmth at the start of the week. Rain chances remain limited, with only a 15% to 25% chance of light showers, mainly east of I-75.

Across North and Central Georgia, the cooler air will be most noticeable during the morning and evening commutes Tuesday and Wednesday. Cities including Athens, Macon, and Gainesville may see brief light showers, though most areas stay dry. GDOT has not issued travel advisories, but drivers should remain alert for slick spots during isolated showers, especially before sunrise.

By Thursday, the pattern flips again. Highs jump back to around 80°F in Atlanta and continue climbing to near 84°F by Friday. This rapid warmup could increase pollen levels and early spring fire risk in drier areas west of I-75.

Residents should plan for layered clothing early in the week and prepare for warmer afternoons by Thursday. The temperature swing may also impact outdoor plans and energy usage.

The warming trend holds into late week, with additional updates possible if rain chances increase beyond midweek.
