Dallas, Texas – A sharp heat surge will push temperatures across Texas 10 to 20 degrees above normal by Friday afternoon, with highs climbing into the upper 80s and low 90s while storm chances increase across the state.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, there is an 80 to 90 percent probability of above-normal temperatures statewide through early next week. North and Central Texas, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, and San Antonio, are in the highest confidence zone for sustained warmth.

Dallas is expected to reach the upper 80s by Saturday, with peak heat between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Central Texas cities like Austin could push near 90 degrees, while South Texas, including San Antonio, may climb into the low 90s. Houston will see mid to upper 80s with increasing humidity.

At the same time, moisture returning from the Gulf will trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially along the I-35 and I-45 corridors. Brief heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds could impact evening travel, particularly in North and East Texas.

Residents should stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat, and remain alert for rapidly changing weather during late-day storms. This pattern will hold through the weekend into early next week, with additional advisories likely as both heat and storm activity continue.
