Tulsa, Oklahoma – A fast-moving cold front will trigger dangerous fire weather conditions across eastern Oklahoma this afternoon, with wind gusts reaching up to 45 mph and rapidly shifting direction by early evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, southwest winds ahead of the front will increase to 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph before shifting to northerly at 20 to 25 mph with gusts as high as 45 mph behind the фронт. The wind shift is expected to move from northwest to southeast across the region between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., impacting cities including Bartlesville, Tulsa, Muskogee, and McAlester.

Very low relative humidity combined with these strong, shifting winds will create critical fire weather conditions. Any fires that develop could spread rapidly and change direction quickly, especially near open grassland areas and along highways such as U.S. 75 and I-44.

A Red Flag Warning remains in effect, and officials strongly urge residents to avoid outdoor burning and any activities that could produce sparks.

The վտանգ will begin to ease later this evening as winds gradually diminish, but fire crews will remain on alert as dry conditions persist.
