Spring Mills, WV – A DUI investigation in Berkeley County on Thursday led to the arrest of a fugitive and the seizure of multiple illegal substances, according to authorities.

According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 1:12 p.m. on April 23, 2026, to a report of a female passed out inside a vehicle at the Spring Mills Walmart along Williamsport Pike. Before deputies arrived, the vehicle left the scene but was later located at the Bedington Crossroads Store, where the driver was found “nodding off” behind the wheel.

Deputies identified the driver as Heather Ann Walling, 41, of Berkeley County. Investigators say Walling allegedly provided false identification and was later confirmed to be a fugitive with an active felony warrant out of Pennsylvania.

During the investigation, deputies conducted field sobriety tests and searched the vehicle. Inside, they reportedly found cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, Xanax, methadone, and drug paraphernalia. A further search allegedly revealed methamphetamine concealed in Walling’s bra.

Authorities say the total seizure included approximately 17 grams of cocaine, 14 grams of methamphetamine, 3 grams of fentanyl, 11 Xanax bars, and six bottles of methadone, along with U.S. currency. The substances were packaged in smaller baggies, consistent with distribution, according to officials.

Walling was taken into custody and transported to Eastern Regional Jail. She faces multiple charges, including three counts of possession with intent to deliver, DUI, obstructing an officer, transporting controlled substances into a correctional facility, and driving revoked for DUI.

The case remains under investigation.
