Arizona – Heat is already climbing fast across the Valley this morning, and pavement is warming under clear skies as temperatures surge toward triple digits.
According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, highs will reach 101°F today, with a 90% chance of hitting 100°F at Sky Harbor. This places much of central and southwestern Arizona roughly 20 degrees above seasonal norms.
Across Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, and Glendale, temperatures push past 95°F by early afternoon and peak near 101°F by mid-afternoon. Drivers along I-10 and Loop 202 should expect intense sun glare and rapid heat buildup inside vehicles.
This early-season heat wave doesn’t ease quickly. Monday remains the “coolest” day near 99°F, before temperatures climb again. By Tuesday through Thursday, highs reach 100°F to 102°F across much of the metro.
Communities across Yuma, El Centro, and Blythe mirror the pattern, holding steady in the 100°F to 103°F range. Even typically cooler spots like Globe stay in the low 90s, limiting regional relief.
HeatRisk levels climb into moderate to major categories, especially during peak afternoon hours. Limit outdoor activity, hydrate often, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Never leave children or pets in parked cars.
Nights offer little recovery, with lows staying in the upper 60s to low 70s. Homes and buildings retain heat, extending exposure risks.
