Colorado – A cool, crisp start gives way to a fast-building warm surge, setting up one of the biggest temperature swings of the season.

According to the National Weather Service in Denver/Boulder, highs climb from 67°F today to near 86°F Tuesday and 88°F Wednesday. Dry air and increasing sunshine will accelerate warming across the Front Range.

Across Denver, Aurora, and Lakewood, expect a sharp contrast between morning chill and afternoon warmth. Early temperatures near the upper 30s quickly rise into the upper 60s today. By midweek, that swing widens with near-summer heat.

Drivers along I-25 and I-70 will see ideal travel conditions with dry roads and clear skies. Still, gusts up to 20 mph at times may create brief crosswinds, especially in open areas east of the metro.

The bigger concern develops Tuesday into Wednesday. Warmer temperatures combine with low humidity, increasing the risk for fire weather conditions. Vegetation remains dry, and even small sparks could spread quickly.

Plan outdoor activity earlier in the day. Avoid open burning and secure loose items that could shift in gusty winds. Hydration becomes important as temperatures rise faster than typical for March.

By Thursday, temperatures ease back into the mid-70s, offering slight relief but keeping the spring warmth intact.
