Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeg police have identified an 80-year-old woman killed in a late-night homicide this week, as a suspect now faces a second-degree murder charge.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service, officers responded just before 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, to an apartment complex in the 1200 block of St. Anne’s Road in the St. Vital area. When officers arrived, they located an elderly woman suffering from fatal injuries inside the residence.

The victim has been identified as Gladys Bellamy, 80. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators with the Homicide Unit determined that the individuals involved allegedly knew each other prior to the incident. Police have not released additional details about the nature of their relationship.

A male suspect was taken into custody at the scene. According to police, Jose Francisco Raulino, 74, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the case. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.

Authorities have not disclosed a motive at this time, and no additional suspects are being sought. The case remains active as investigators continue to gather evidence.
