Los Angeles, California – Residents across California could face a surge of early-season heat within the first full week of April as temperatures climb well into the 80s and 90s, bringing summer-like conditions statewide.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, much of California trends toward above-normal temperatures through mid-April, with inland areas showing stronger signals. While coastal zones may see periods of moderation, interior regions are expected to experience sustained warmth.

In Southern California, including Los Angeles and the Inland Empire, highs may reach the mid-80s to low 90s, especially away from immediate coastal influence. Along major corridors like I-5 and I-10, heat buildup during afternoon hours could impact travel and outdoor work.

The Central Valley, including Fresno and Sacramento, is expected to see the most significant heat, with temperatures pushing into the 90s on multiple days. Northern inland areas may also see above-average warmth, while coastal cities like San Francisco remain cooler but still above seasonal norms.

The extended heat may increase early demand for cooling and elevate wildfire concerns in drier inland regions.

Residents should stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, and be mindful of fire safety. Never leave children or pets in vehicles.

This early-season heat pattern is expected to persist through mid-April, with additional updates likely as temperatures continue trending above normal across California.
