New York, NY – Gusty north winds and lingering morning clouds are set to ease by midafternoon Saturday, giving way to brighter skies just as temperatures climb into the mid to upper 50s across much of the state.
According to the National Weather Service in New York, clouds will clear from New York City northward by early afternoon, with winds diminishing steadily after 3 p.m. High temperatures will range from 53°F in the Hudson Valley to 57°F in parts of coastal Connecticut and northeastern New Jersey.
In New York City, Central Park is expected to reach 56°F, while JFK Airport holds closer to 56°F with lingering breezes near the shoreline. Drivers along the FDR Drive and I-278 may still feel occasional crosswinds before conditions settle later in the day. Across Long Island, highs hover between 53°F and 56°F, with Montauk cooler near 52°F due to onshore flow.
Further inland, areas like Poughkeepsie and Danbury top out around 53°F to 54°F, while New Haven reaches 57°F. Light jackets remain necessary despite sunshine, especially in shaded or coastal spots.
Winds weakening by late afternoon will improve outdoor conditions statewide, but cooler air lingers into the evening. Additional updates may follow if wind patterns shift overnight.
