Nashville, Tennessee – Drivers across Tennessee could face water-covered interstates and sudden visibility drops within the first full week of April as repeated rain systems move through during peak commute hours.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, Tennessee is in a 50–60% probability zone for above-normal precipitation through mid-April, while temperatures trend 40–60% above average. This setup supports frequent rounds of rain fueled by unusually warm and humid air.

In Nashville, rain could quickly pool along I-40, I-65, and I-24, creating slick conditions during morning and evening travel. Memphis may see heavier downpours at times, increasing the risk of localized flooding near low-lying roads and urban drainage systems. In eastern Tennessee, including Knoxville and Chattanooga, terrain-enhanced rainfall could lead to rapid rises in creeks and streams.

Afternoon temperatures are expected to climb into the mid to upper 80s, with some locations nearing 90 degrees on warmer days. The added heat will boost atmospheric moisture, allowing storms to produce brief but intense rainfall rates, especially during late afternoon hours.

Residents should clear storm drains, monitor local waterways, and avoid driving through flooded roadways. Charge devices ahead of stronger storms that could trigger isolated power outages.

This active and humid pattern is expected to persist through mid-April, with additional advisories likely as new systems develop across the state.
