Joliet, IL – Two standout seniors at Joliet Central High School have been named the 2026 Mr. and Ms. J, continuing a decades-long tradition recognizing excellence in academics, leadership, and community involvement.
According to Joliet Township High School officials, Romeo Rojas and Sophie Litsogannis received the honors during a banquet held Tuesday, April 15, at the Jacob Henry Mansion. The recognition program, which dates back to 1958, highlights students who best represent the school’s values and commitment to achievement.
School leaders say candidates must maintain at least a 3.5 GPA and demonstrate strong involvement in school activities and community service before being selected as finalists and interviewed by a panel.
Litsogannis, named Ms. J, has maintained a 4.591 weighted GPA and is active in multiple honor societies, student leadership groups, and varsity softball. She plans to attend Illinois State University to study biology and pursue a career in medicine.
Rojas, named Mr. J, has earned over a 4.2 weighted GPA while participating in advanced coursework, athletics, and STEM-related programs. A four-year varsity football player, he plans to study civil engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
School officials say both students stood out for their leadership, character, and commitment to making a positive impact in the Joliet community.
The annual recognition celebrates not only the winners but also finalists and runners-up who demonstrate excellence across academics, service, and extracurricular involvement.
