Jackson, Kentucky – Storm chances are ramping up again this afternoon, with isolated thunderstorms developing by mid to late afternoon and a stronger round expected to move in by Sunday evening across much of the state.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, a stalled boundary will trigger scattered storms Saturday, with the highest coverage south of the Mountain Parkway where rain chances reach up to 40 percent. A few storms near the Cumberland River basin could produce small hail during peak heating hours.
Conditions briefly quiet down Sunday afternoon with highs climbing into the low 80s, but attention quickly turns to Sunday evening. A cold front pushing in from the northwest will spark more widespread thunderstorms, especially north of the I-64 corridor, where stronger cells may bring damaging wind gusts and hail.
Cities including Lexington, Morehead, and Ashland face the highest احتمال for stronger storms Sunday night, while areas farther south such as London and Somerset may see less intensity but still periods of heavy rain.
Residents should secure outdoor items and stay alert for warnings Sunday evening. Additional advisories are likely as the front approaches, with storm chances lingering into early next week.
