Minnesota’s North Shore is waking up under a gray, damp sky, and by late tonight, that wet pavement could turn slushy as rain flips to snow.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, temperatures hover near 34°F this morning with overcast skies and northeast winds around 15 mph. Light rain develops through the day, with a 20% chance early, increasing by evening. By late tonight, precipitation transitions to snow, with a 60% chance of accumulation under a half inch.

Roads along I-35, Highway 61, and elevated bridges could become slick as temperatures fall below freezing. Plan extra time if traveling late tonight or early Sunday. Conditions may deteriorate quickly after midnight as wet surfaces begin to freeze.

Sunday remains cold, with highs near 34°F and lingering clouds early before gradual clearing. Sunday night drops sharply to 22°F, increasing the risk of refreeze on untreated roads. Watch for black ice into early Monday, especially in shaded areas.

Monday brings sunshine but stays cool, with highs near 42°F. By Tuesday, March 24, temperatures rebound slightly to 45°F with partly sunny skies, though another weak system could bring a rain-snow mix Tuesday night into Wednesday.
