Maryland – Clouds are thickening over Baltimore this afternoon, and the first round of spring rain is already lining up to move in, setting up wet roads and reduced visibility before the next workweek begins.

According to the National Weather Service, showers become likely tonight with a 70% chance of rain and temperatures falling near 50°F. Another round develops late Sunday into early Monday, with rain chances around 40% during the morning commute and highs near 60°F.

Across Baltimore, Towson, and Columbia, conditions stay manageable through Saturday. Expect mostly sunny skies and highs near 62°F, offering a dry break for travel and outdoor plans. By Sunday, warmer air builds in with highs reaching 72°F, but clouds begin increasing again late in the day.

Meteorologists now tracking this pattern say rain redevelops after midnight Sunday and continues into early Monday. Even light rainfall can create slick spots on I-95, I-83, and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, especially after several dry days.

Plan ahead for early Monday travel. Allow extra time, use headlights in rain, and watch for ponding on low-lying roadways near the Inner Harbor and along MD-295.

By Monday night, skies clear and temperatures drop sharply into the low 30s. That sets the stage for possible patchy refreeze early Tuesday, particularly on untreated surfaces and bridges.

Tuesday turns sunny but cooler, with highs near 50°F. A gradual warmup follows midweek, continuing the up-and-down rhythm of March weather.

Five Day Outlook for Baltimore, MD:
Saturday: Mostly sunny, high near 62°F
Sunday: Partly sunny, high near 72°F
Monday: Chance of rain, high near 60°F
Tuesday: Sunny, high near 50°F
Wednesday: Mostly cloudy, high near 55°F
