Pennsylvania – Rain taps steadily across Pittsburgh this afternoon, but stronger storms are building nearby and could intensify quickly, bringing gusty winds and brief downpours before sunset.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a Marginal Risk for severe weather is in place through this evening. Damaging wind gusts and small hail are possible if storms strengthen. Showers continue into tonight, with rain chances near 60% and wet roads persisting into early Saturday.

Across Allegheny, Beaver, and Washington counties, visibility may drop during heavier bursts. Roads like I-376, I-79, and Route 28 could become slick, especially during the evening drive. Plan extra time and keep headlights on.

Saturday offers a short break. Skies turn partly sunny with highs near 59°F, giving crews and commuters time to reset. That calm doesn’t last long. Warmer air surges in Sunday, pushing temperatures to around 76°F across the metro.

Meteorologists now tracking the next system say storms could redevelop Sunday evening. Western Pennsylvania sits in a Marginal Risk again, while areas west into Ohio face a higher, Slight Risk. Damaging winds remain the primary concern.

By early Monday, rain lingers with a 60% chance of showers and highs near 50°F. Wet pavement during the morning commute could slow traffic again across bridges and elevated roadways.

As cooler air settles in Monday night, temperatures drop into the upper 20s. Any leftover moisture could refreeze, creating patchy icy spots before Tuesday morning.
