Wilmington, OH – A developing storm system is expected to bring an increasing threat of severe weather to the Ohio Valley this weekend, with the greatest concern arriving Sunday.
The National Weather Service in Wilmington reports a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather today (Friday), but attention quickly turns to a more active setup on Sunday.
Storms are expected to:
- Develop Sunday afternoon
- Increase in coverage into the evening hours
- Move out of the region before Monday daytime
The primary threats will evolve over time:
- Early storms may produce large hail
- The main hazard will shift to damaging wind gusts by Sunday evening
While widespread severe weather is not guaranteed, forecasters stress that conditions will be favorable for a few stronger storms.
Residents are encouraged to stay weather-aware, especially late Sunday, and have multiple ways to receive warnings as storms develop.
