Morehead City, NC – It’s a pleasant start to the first full day of astronomical spring across eastern North Carolina, with sunshine and mild temperatures dominating the forecast.

The National Weather Service says highs today will reach around 70 degrees inland, with slightly cooler conditions along the Outer Banks. Most communities will enjoy dry weather and light winds through the afternoon.

Clouds will begin to increase tonight as a weak cold front approaches, bringing a chance for scattered showers into early Saturday morning. Rain chances generally range from about 20% to 40%, with the highest chances north of the Albemarle Sound.

Rainfall amounts are expected to stay light, generally under a tenth of an inch, meaning no significant impacts are anticipated.

Overall, it’s a classic early spring setup—warm, sunny conditions giving way to a brief round of light rain overnight.
