Dallas-Fort Worth, TX – North and Central Texas are heading into a stretch of intense, summerlike heat, with record-breaking temperatures possible through the weekend.

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth says highs will climb into the upper 80s and 90s Friday and Saturday, before peaking on Sunday. Many areas across North Texas could see temperatures reach the mid to upper 90s, with some locations approaching 99°.

This level of heat is well above average for March and could break daily records, especially on Sunday when temperatures are forecast to exceed record highs by several degrees.

The hot conditions will also be paired with dry air, increasing concerns for fire weather across the region.

Officials urge residents to take precautions against the heat, including staying hydrated, wearing light clothing, and limiting outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day—especially between 10 AM and 4 PM.

With little relief overnight, as lows remain in the 60s, the prolonged warmth will continue to build heading into early next week.
