Duluth, MN – A weekend clipper system is set to bring a mix of snow and ice to parts of Minnesota, with the greatest impacts expected across the northern portion of the state.

The National Weather Service in Duluth says temperatures will hover around the freezing mark, allowing for periods of snow, rain, and freezing precipitation at times from Saturday into Sunday.

Snow accumulations are expected to remain light overall, but northern Minnesota—including areas near International Falls, Ely, and the Arrowhead—has the best chance of seeing measurable snowfall.

In addition to snow, there is also a risk for light ice accumulation, especially in northeastern Minnesota. This could create slick roads and hazardous travel conditions, particularly on untreated surfaces.

Cities like Duluth and Grand Rapids may see a mix of precipitation types, leading to changing conditions throughout the weekend.

While no major storm is expected, even light ice and snow can make travel tricky, so residents are urged to use caution and monitor the latest forecasts.

Conditions are expected to improve early next week as the system moves out.
