Boise, ID – Record-breaking warmth is already reshaping March weather across southwest Idaho, with temperatures hitting 80 degrees in Boise and setting or tying long-standing records.
According to the National Weather Service in Boise, several locations across the region either broke or tied daily high temperature records Thursday, with Boise reaching 80 degrees and Mountain Home climbing to 81 degrees. Other cities including Twin Falls, Jerome, and Burns also saw temperatures surge well above seasonal norms.
This puts temperatures roughly 20 degrees above average for mid-March, creating conditions more typical of late spring. Communities across the Treasure Valley and Magic Valley will continue to see unusually warm afternoons, increasing early-season concerns such as rapid snowmelt in higher elevations.
Drivers near mountain corridors should remain alert for changing runoff conditions, as warming temperatures can increase water flow and create localized hazards near rivers and streams.
The unseasonable heat is expected to persist through the weekend and into early next week, with additional records possible. More updates are likely as this rare early-season warm spell continues.
