San Antonio, TX – Heavy rain is already developing across Central Texas this morning, with localized flooding possible through the evening as storms bring bursts of intense rainfall.
According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue through Monday, producing 0.25 to 1.50 inches of rain across the region. Isolated pockets—especially between San Antonio and Austin—could see up to 3 inches, increasing the risk of flash flooding in low-lying areas.
Cities including San Antonio, Austin, New Braunfels, San Marcos, and Kerrville are under a Level 1 of 4 flood risk. Major corridors such as I-35, Loop 1604, and Highway 281 may see ponding water and reduced visibility, particularly during heavier downpours this afternoon and evening.
Temperatures will stay cooler than normal, with highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s, limiting storm intensity but allowing rain to persist longer over the same areas.
Drivers should avoid low water crossings, never attempt to drive through flooded roads, and allow extra travel time during the evening commute. Residents are urged to monitor alerts and have multiple ways to receive warnings.
Rain continues through tonight, with additional updates expected this afternoon if heavier bands develop or flooding becomes more widespread.
