Portland, Oregon – Temperatures will fall sharply across northwest Oregon this weekend, with readings dropping close to freezing by early Sunday morning and raising concerns for patchy frost.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, a cooler air mass will move into the region beginning Saturday, lowering daytime highs by 10 degrees or more through Sunday. After reaching the low 70s Friday in parts of the Willamette Valley, temperatures will fall into the mid-50s by Saturday and remain there into Sunday.

The most immediate concern arrives by sunrise Sunday, when overnight lows dip to around 32 to 35°F across inland valleys, including Portland, Salem, and Eugene. Patchy frost could develop in low-lying and rural areas, especially where winds go calm.

Coastal communities such as Tillamook and Long Beach will stay milder, with highs in the low 50s and less risk of frost due to marine influence. Inland areas, however, will feel the full impact of the cooling trend.

Residents should protect sensitive plants, bring pets indoors overnight, and prepare for chilly early morning conditions. Cooler temperatures are expected to linger into early next week with additional updates possible.
