Oregon – Cool morning air gives way to a quick warm-up across Pendleton, but the calm won’t last. A shift toward rain and breezy conditions begins building by Tuesday, setting up slick roads and slower travel midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, rain chances increase to 30% after 11 a.m. Tuesday, then jump to 80% Tuesday night into Wednesday. Breezy conditions develop alongside the rain, especially by Wednesday, increasing travel impacts across eastern Oregon.

Today stays pleasant with highs near 75°F and light winds, making for smooth driving along I-84 and local routes through Umatilla County. Monday turns even warmer, reaching near 79°F under partly sunny skies. That warmth marks the peak before a noticeable cooldown begins.

By Tuesday afternoon, clouds thicken and scattered rain develops across Pendleton and nearby communities like Hermiston and Milton-Freewater. Roads will begin to turn slick, particularly during the late afternoon commute. Plan extra travel time and watch for reduced visibility.

Rain becomes more widespread Tuesday night and continues through Wednesday, when highs drop sharply to near 54°F. Breezy winds will add to the chill and may impact high-profile vehicles along exposed stretches of I-84. Conditions remain unsettled into Wednesday night before gradual improvement Thursday.
