Tallahassee, Florida – Temperatures hovering in the mid-30s early this morning are putting sensitive plants at risk right now, but a sharp warm-up will quickly flip conditions across the Florida Panhandle and South Georgia before lunchtime.
According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, a Frost Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. EDT (8 a.m. CDT) for southeast Alabama and much of southwest Georgia, with lows between 34 and 37 degrees creating ideal conditions for frost formation. Light winds and high humidity are allowing frost to develop on exposed surfaces, especially in rural areas around Dothan, Albany, and Bainbridge.
By late morning, temperatures rebound into the 70s across Tallahassee, Panama City, and surrounding communities, eliminating frost concerns and setting up a steady warming trend. Highs will climb into the 80s by Saturday through Monday, with some inland areas pushing the upper 80s by early next week.
Dry conditions will dominate through the weekend, increasing drought concerns across the region. Beachgoers along the Gulf Coast should monitor flag warnings, as moderate rip current risk may develop.
Morning fog could begin to impact visibility by the weekend, especially along coastal roadways like U.S. 98. No rainfall is expected until early to mid next week, and another front could bring slightly cooler air by Tuesday.
