Washington, DC – Temperatures rebound quickly across the Mid-Atlantic today, climbing toward 60 degrees by mid-afternoon and setting the stage for a sharp warmup into the 70s by the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington office, highs Thursday will range from the upper 40s in western Maryland to near 60 degrees across Washington, DC, northern Virginia, and central Maryland. Areas like Baltimore and Westminster may stay cooler in the low 50s, while Charlottesville and Fredericksburg push closer to 60 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.
The warming trend accelerates Friday, with highs jumping into the upper 60s and near 70 degrees across much of the region. A clipper system is expected to bring evening showers, which could briefly impact the Friday evening commute along I-95, I-66, and the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
By Saturday, temperatures surge even higher, reaching the low to mid-70s across much of Virginia, Maryland, and DC. Early morning showers are possible before drier conditions return later in the day.
Residents should prepare for rapid day-to-day temperature swings and keep rain gear handy for Friday night and early Saturday. Another cooldown is expected early next week as a cold front moves through, with additional updates likely.
