Indianapolis, Indiana – A rapid warm-up is underway across Indiana, with temperatures climbing toward 80 degrees by Sunday, setting up one of the warmest days so far this year.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, highs will reach the mid to upper 60s today before climbing into the low 70s for much of the state Friday and Saturday. Cities including Indianapolis, Bloomington, Lafayette, and Muncie will see steady warming under mostly dry conditions and light winds through the end of the workweek.
The biggest shift arrives Sunday, when stronger winds develop and temperatures surge into the mid-70s to near 80 degrees. Wind gusts between 20 and 30 mph are expected, especially during the afternoon hours, which could impact travel on open roadways like I-65 and I-70.
While most of the weekend remains dry, a few showers may develop late Sunday as a system approaches, signaling changes ahead.
Residents should prepare for the gusty conditions Sunday and secure loose outdoor items. Cooler temperatures and additional rain chances are expected to follow early next week as the pattern shifts again.
