Albany, NY – Chilly air is settling across eastern New York today, with temperatures struggling to climb out of the 30s and low 40s and occasional flurries adding a wintry feel through the afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, highs Thursday will range from around 30 degrees in higher elevations to the mid-40s in valley locations, including Albany, Poughkeepsie, and Pittsfield. Cloud cover will dominate, and a few light flurries or sprinkles could develop at times, especially across areas like Glens Falls and the Mohawk Valley.
Road impacts are expected to remain minimal, but brief visibility reductions are possible during any passing flurries. Cities including Syracuse, Cobleskill, and Bennington will stay mostly cloudy with temperatures hovering near 40 degrees.
By tonight, colder air moves in, with lows dropping between 18 and 31 degrees across the region. Some lingering snow showers could occur in higher terrain, while valleys turn dry but cold.
Residents should dress for winter-like conditions and remain alert for spotty flurries during the day. More typical early spring weather may return heading into the weekend, but below-normal temperatures will hold through tonight with additional updates possible.
