Pittsburgh, PA – Dry conditions are taking hold across western Pennsylvania, raising early-season fire concerns as limited rainfall chances persist through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, most areas will see little to no measurable rainfall through at least Friday, with precipitation chances staying at or below 30% for cities including Pittsburgh, Latrobe, and Wheeling. Even where showers develop, totals may remain light due to dry air in place, limiting how much rain actually reaches the ground.

A slight uptick in rain chances arrives late Friday into Saturday, with isolated thunderstorms possible, but widespread soaking rain is not expected. The best opportunity for more meaningful rainfall comes Sunday into Sunday night, when probabilities climb to around 35% to 40% across parts of western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia.

Communities including Morgantown, Zanesville, and New Philadelphia may see brief showers, but long stretches of dry weather could continue between systems. This pattern increases the risk of brush fires, especially with warming temperatures and dry vegetation.

Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning and properly dispose of smoking materials. Fire officials may issue additional restrictions if dry conditions persist.

Rain chances remain limited into early next week, and additional updates are expected as the Sunday system develops.
