Amarillo, TX – Temperatures across the Texas Panhandle are expected to surge into the 90s and potentially reach 100 degrees this weekend, marking some of the hottest conditions so far this year.

According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, highs Thursday will already approach the upper 80s to low 90s across much of the region, including Amarillo, Borger, and Pampa.

The warming trend intensifies Friday, with highs forecast between 88 and 96 degrees under sunny skies and light winds.

By Saturday, temperatures are expected to climb further, ranging from 92 to 100 degrees across the Panhandle. Some locations could hit the 100-degree mark for the first time this year.

Conditions remain warm into Sunday, though slightly cooler air may arrive with highs ranging from the 70s to near 90 degrees. Winds are expected to increase, with gusts between 20 and 25 mph.

The National Weather Service notes that dry air and increasing winds could elevate fire weather concerns as temperatures rise.

This early-season heat may impact outdoor activities, travel, and work conditions, especially during peak afternoon hours.
